Note:
This will be a demanding trip for the fit and skilled paddler.
While we will be running the sections with the most whitewater,
the challenge here is in the remoteness, long portages and potential
of extreme weather conditions.

Trip
Itinerary
JULY 30: Participants for the Middle
and Full trip arrive in Matagami, Quebec. We'll be able to pick
up some participants in Rouyn or Val d'Or, depending on travel plans.
Final arrangements and overnight in Matagami (Included).
JULY 31: In the morning the van shuttle
to us to the chemin du Nord put-in, about 7 hours.. There is a short
paddle to campsite #1, below the first major rapid.
AUGUST 3: After a few days on the large
river we reach the Cree village of Nemiscau.
AUGUST 6: Oatmeal Rapids. Middle trip ends; return
to Matagami by Van. Participants on the Lower trip arrive in Mattagami,
that morning. Shuttle to Rupert Bridge.
AUGUST 7: Lower River run from Oatmeal to "The
Fours"
AUGUST 8-9: Finish the last portage at "The
Fours": The biggest water you'll ever see.
AUGUST 11: Smoky Hill Rapids. The Waskaganish Cree
will be camping here, taking part in the annual whitefish run, which
they have done for a thousand years.
AUGUST 12: Arrive in Waskaganish. Overnight accommodation
at the new lodge (included)
AUGUST 13: Return to Matagami by van, return home.
