Kayak
Expeditions with Canoe Support
The
best paddling rivers in Canada are often out of reach for kayaks.
The remote rivers, where it may be a week between put-in and take-out,
are simply too long for self-support whitewater kayak trips--and
these rivers are not suitable for support rafts. The solution is
to have a limited number of kayaks paddle the rivers with a guided
canoe trips. The canoes will carry the bulk of the gear and food,
letting the kayaker enjoy the river, in their own boat, without
the extra weight of carrying gear.
Some
rivers are better suited for new paddlers while others are for expert
whitewater river boaters only. Some are for touring or river running
boats, while theirs are creekin' runs. The list below shows which
trips are suitable for kayaks, and the type of kayak recommended.

The Deal:
·
Suitable kayaks will be provided by the participant · Kayaks
will travel as part of the overall expedition team, eat and camp
with the team · Canoes will carry the food, tents, kitchen
packs and some personal gear for the kayaks · Kayakers
are responsible for carrying their own gear across any portages,
and assisting with group gear · Kayaks will only run rapids
which have been cleared by team leader · Kayakers will
carry their own boat on portages · Kayak paddlers will
pay full trip price, plus any additional single-boat supplement
for plane or train fare, if applicable · There shall be
no making fun of another's vessel, nor of how many blades his/her
paddle has/has not!
