Groundhog River Whitewater Trip

The Groundhog River runs parallel to the Missinaibi. Just past Fauquier the Groundhog flows into the Mattagami, which meets the Missinaibi and these two rivers form the Moose about two days paddle upstream of Moosonee.

On this guided expedition we will be paddling the Groundhog River from just east of Foyelet to Fauquier (on Hwy 11). This river provides some of the best whitewater in the area, with the famous '6 mile rapids' as well as '10 mile rapids'. (actually 8kms long). These are two more continuous sections of Class I – II+ whitewater which we will scout and run as much as possible. There will also be sections of flat water in between rapids.
