Train-in Ghost Town Adventure
Imagine a place bypassed by time. On the shore of a remote northern Canadian lake there is town without roads, phone or cars. Accessible only by train or bushplane (or a 6 day paddle from our base), the once bustling community of Elsas remains an authentic frontier pioneer village. As part of our "Ghost Town Adventure", you will board the "Canadian" trans-continental train in Toronto and travel by rail to the isolated community of Elsas. Here you will be the only personal guests of your hosts, Ron and Jeannie, at their wilderness home on Kapuskasing Lake. You will have your own fully serviced cottage with shower and bathroom, have delicious homemade meals prepared for you by a professional cook, take part in evening campfires and join the residents of this remote village on their day to day adventures. During your stay you will be free to explore Kapuskasing Lake by canoe or kayak, venture down one of the three rivers which feed the lake, photograph wildlife in the Chapleau Game Preserve, fish for the lake's abundant Walleye or Northern Pike, explore the remains of an old mill site, or watch the spectacular sunsets or stunning Northern Lights in the arctic sky.
