Comments
This trip should be paddled in the spring or early summer when
water levels are high. Portions of the route may be impassable
during a dry summer. Many of the sections of whitewater are
runnable, but all have portages. Stretches of water between
rapids are generally slow-moving.
The trip can be started farther north at Five Mile lake. This
adds approx 50 km to the trip. Unfortunately this section has
countless deadfalls and logjams that require hauling canoe and
gear over. The portages are very poorly marked and the trails
have not seen much use.
There is a little known access point
from the Waltham Lake Road, off Hwy 129. It is hard to find, due
to recent cutting in the area. This make for a 4 day trip.
Once you get down to the Honey Lake road access area, the river
has few obstacles.
